MSPE Membership Information
The mission of NSPE/MSPE is to promote the ethical, competent and licensed practice of engineering, and to enhance the professional, social and economic well-being of its members. Take Charge of Your Professional Career NSPE and MSPE give Professional Engineers the resources they need to advance their careers and their profession. MSPE is the only society in Michigan that represents all engineering disciplines. The Society is the only active, established organization devoting its entire effort to the professional, ethical, economical, political and social aspects of engineering. MSPE has 19 local Chapters that can help you become aware of the colleagues from your community that you share an interest with. Protect Your Image Programs such as MATHCOUNTS, Engineer's Week and MSPE scholarships help enhance the profession's public image and educate the public on the wide variety of engineering disciplines. MSPE is your grassroots organization for aggressively monitoring, communicating and acting on legislation that effects the Professional Engineer. The NSPE developed and adheres to a strong Engineer's Code of Ethics. NSPE established the standards of professionalism that will set you apart from the crowd. Five practice divisions define and implement standards for a professional employment environment for construction, education, government, industry and private practice. NSPE and MSPE promote licensure to non- licensed engineers and work hard to enforce state licensure laws. Education The NSPE/NTU Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Review, including the new discipline-specific format, is produced by NSPE and broadcast by the National Technological University Satellite Network to university and corporate sites. NSPE offers review materials for the FE and PE exam, and MSPE offers FE and PE exam refresher courses. NSPE's Professional Development Council has developed a series of courses to supplement your knowledge of current management techniques and the latest technology. This video and workbook-based training can be conducted in your own office. NSPE holds the Professional Edge Conference at which the participants earn professional development hours through continuing education and peer sessions. MSPE holds an Annual Conference that offers continuing education seminars. NSPE's Professional Development Registry for Engineers and Surveyors tracks your continuing education courses throughout your career. MSPE provides training for Standing Neutrals, which are used as a means of "Alternate Dispute Resolution" when conflicts arise regarding construction and/or design. Information MSPE's web site provides information to members and students: committee and officer listings, scholarship, MATHCOUNTS and career information, links to the State Legislature and student chapters, a calendar of events, and much more. MSPE's website is linked to NSPE's web site (http://www.nspe.org/), which provides valuable information for engineers: news on the profession, career tips, job information, NSPE products and services, links to other engineering-related web sites, and much more. Access important information through NSPE's fax-on-demand service. Available documents include order forms, product descriptions, issue briefs and more.
