MSPE Celebrates 75th Anniversary

The Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) is pleased to announce our 75th year of membership and service to professional engineering in Michigan. The formation of a professional engineering society in Michigan was frequently considered in 1943, 1944, and 1945. Technical societies existed; however, the 45 Charter Members of MSPE were concerned with the professional, social, and economic interests of the profession as well. Organizational meetings were held in early 1946, culminating with the adoption of a resolution in April 1946 to petition the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) for a Charter. On May 10th, 1946, more than 200 Professional Engineers gathered at the University of Michigan’s Rackham Building in Detroit to attend the presentation of the Charter, making the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers the 24th affiliated NSPE State society. During this year-long celebration, MSPE will be highlighting our history, programs, members, and chapters. We also hope to host a celebratory banquet for members and their guests to commemorate this Diamond Anniversary (details to come and pending safe arrangements). We invite you to join us in remembering our past successes and envisioning a better future by reading our bi-weekly messages on email, Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedln. We welcome you to create posts on those forums as well. Please include the hashtag #MSPE75 so others can search and see your posts. Congratulations to all of MSPE’s members, and let the celebration begin!
